SACRAMENTO, Calif. – The California Highway Patrol (CHP) is seeking public comment as part of its reaccreditation process with the Commission of Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies (CALEA). CALEA is an internationally recognized non- profit organization dedicated to improving law enforcement and public safety services.
“The CALEA accreditation process is another resource to ensure the CHP is utilizing the most effective, efficient, and current procedures to serve the people of California,” said Commissioner Duryee.”
The CHP encourages members of the public to provide their thoughts and experiences with the CHP at https://www.chp.ca.gov/home/about-us/calea- accreditation. This feedback will be provided directly to CALEA as part of the assessment process.
CALEA accreditation demonstrates an agency’s commitment to excellence in law enforcement. The accreditation process involves a rigorous self-assessment and an on-site review by independent assessors. Agencies are evaluated on their policies and procedures, training, operations, and community engagement.
The CHP has been accredited by CALEA since 2010 and is the largest law enforcement agency in California to hold this distinction.
The mission of the CHP is to provide the highest level of Safety, Service, and Security.
