All media inquiries regarding a specific case or investigation associated with an alert will be forwarded to the appropriate agency.General requests for information regarding alert programs, statistics, policies, laws, and alert tools should be directed to the CHP’s Office of Media Relations through a local CHP Area office or by calling (916) 843-3310.

The California Highway Patrol’s Office of Media Relations (OMR) serves as the Department’s central point of contact for all media-related communications. Committed to transparency and public engagement, the OMR plays a critical role in fostering trust between the CHP and the communities it serves. As the primary liaison to news outlets and media organizations, the office is responsible for disseminating accurate, timely information regarding the Department’s operations, policies, and public safety initiatives. Through strategic communication, including news releases, briefings, and prompt responses to media inquiries, this office supports the CHP’s mission to inform, educate, and build public confidence across California.

Out of State Requests

All out-of-state requests for any of California’s alerts shall to be made through the CHP. Requesting parties should coordinate with their respective state coordinator prior to contacting the CHP. Investigative information must show a nexus to California.
