The California Highway Patrol (CHP) Solano Area is committed to providing the highest level of safety, service, and security to residents and travelers in Solano County. Located in Northern California, Solano County sits between the San Francisco Bay Area and Sacramento, making it a key transportation corridor. Major highways like Interstate 80 (I-80), Interstate 680 (I-680), and State Route 12 (SR-12) run through the county, connecting cities like Fairfield, Vallejo, and Vacaville. Traffic in Solano County is among the busiest in the State, especially along I-80, which serves as a major route for commuters and freight traffic. The junction of I-80 and I-680 in Fairfield experiences heavy daily traffic, with volumes exceeding 250,000 vehicles per day in some areas, making Solano County a critical but often congested part of California’s transportation network.
To manage congestion, Solano Area officers respond to emergency calls, enforce traffic laws, and assist motorists along the County’s major highways. Given the region’s high traffic volume, Solano Area officers play a vital role in mitigating crashes, DUI incidents, and reckless driving while collaborating with local agencies and community stakeholders to improve traffic safety. Ongoing efforts to protect lives, prevent injuries, and reduce crashes through traffic enforcement, public education, and emergency response reinforce Solano Area’s commitment to keeping roads safe for all drivers.
Commander's Message

As the commander of the Solano Area, I am honored to lead such a talented and dedicated team. When fully staffed, the CHP Solano Area consists of 81 sworn officers and eight professional staff members, supported by our active Senior Volunteer and Explorer Programs. Our uniformed officers play a crucial role in serving the public, whether responding to crashes, investigating crimes, assisting stranded motorists, or patrolling our freeways, state routes, county roads, and state properties within the county. Our professional staff also contribute significantly to our public safety efforts, providing vital administrative and technical support for our law enforcement mission. Our commitment to Safety, Service, and Security is at the heart of everything we do.
Throughout my career with the CHP, I have served in various field assignments, including Grass Valley, San Francisco, and San Andreas, and in an administrative capacity at our headquarters in Sacramento. I have a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from the California State University, Sacramento, and am a graduate of the Federal Bureau of Investigation National Academy, Class 289. I am deeply grateful to be a part of this amazing organization and appreciate the dedication, courage, and integrity of past and present members who have earned the trust and confidence of the people of California.
I am fully committed to enhancing police-community collaboration, to create a safe and productive environment for all.
